TVAST 2026 Artist Survey Results
The Survey Results from TVAST 2026
Overall: Artists were in the majority, happy with the price of the event, interaction with leader ship, the online gallery and the printed materials and the catalog specifically. There were some negative comments and we will address those on the online page on the AVA site at the following non-public address:
80% of the artists rated the overall event either a 4 or 5. But there were some negative comments here as well and we have room for improvement - in the areas of communications and signage and more.
Social media got high marks with 71% of you giving our team a four or five rating.
Expectations... 58% of you said your expectations were met while 33% said your expectations were somewhat met. But there were still a couple of you who said your expectations were not met. We will address this both in the online page and in next year's communication. It is important to us that you're aware of what an open studio event is all about. And it is important for you to have a decent expectation in advance.
Timing... 78% of you are fine with the idea of adding an extra weekend… While 29% of you said as long as it doesn't cost extra. And we don't think that it should. But remember. The cost for our open studio event is amazingly low compared with other open studios. Silicon Valley open studios costs someone who is not retired $190 to participate. So we try to keep things in perspective.
Reaching out beyond the Tri Valley.... The vast majority of it you thought it was a great idea for us to contact Gallery owners of the Bay Area. We will look very closely at that and give it a good try. Also thought we should continue to push our social media beyond the Tri-valley. We will continue to do that if our marketing budget allows for it. Our feedback shows that it is hard to gauge to what extent social media is effective. 33% of responders said that several people said they saw the event on social media and about that same percentage said they were very happy with our social media team output. Overall social media got very high marks from the responders.
Miscellaneous...
Signage: 24% of you said you wish you had more signs. And that was also a problem with communication. Some of you said you didn't know anything about signs. Signed were promoted. Emails were sent out. But we will be more proactive about signage next year to ensure everyone has at least two signs. Keep your signs from this year!
Pricing: 53% of responders thought the price to participate was about right with a few thinking it was too high. And others wishing they had more bang for their buck. Others thought it would be nice if they could be offered a way to donate more money if they could afford it. We will make that available next year. You can always donate to AVA by using our website and we accept money through PayPal now. Venmo is coming soon.
Next year: more than 64% said they were looking forward to participating next year. As always, we will take your many comments and work to make it a better event. There will be more information with in-depth discussions on the AVA website. I have not filled much of that out yet so I will get to that in the next few days. You might wait until Monday to check out that page. Here's the link again.
Note… I will get back to this page to add more in-depth information in the next few days.
