Terin Christensen

Terin Christensen, self-taught Bay Area artist whose abstract impressionist paintings explore emotion through bold color, expressive mark-making, and richly layered surfaces. Her work is driven by curiosity, intuition, and a willingness to embrace the unexpected.

Working primarily with acrylic paint, chalk, pencil, and collage. Terin builds up and breaks down surfaces, allowing each piece to evolve through experimentation and discovery. She approaches painting as a dialogue between herself and the work, where accidents, imperfections, and spontaneous gestures often become the most compelling elements. Traces of this process remain visible, revealing the journey behind each finished piece.

Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Terin developed an early appreciation for art through museum visits and exposure to the works of Diebenkorn, Mitchel & Monet. In 2019, she began exploring her own artistic voice, discovering the freedom of intuitive expression without the constraints of formal training.

Her work has been featured in galleries and juried exhibitions throughout the Bay Area. Through her paintings, Terin invites viewers to look beyond the finished image and discover the layers of emotion, experimentation, and unexpected moments that give each piece its own story.
