Meghana Mitragotri
Meghana Mitragotri is an award-winning watercolor artist based in Livermore, California, whose work draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the countryside, flowers, and birds. Known for her realistic and occasionally impressionistic style, Meghana’s art captures the serenity and subtle nuances of the world around her.
Born into a family of scientists, Meghana grew up in Kalpakkam, a township in southern India, where she was immersed in a diverse community that nurtured her creative interests in art, languages, classical music, and dance. From an early age, she explored various art mediums, including colored pencils, pastels, acrylics, and oils. However, it was watercolor that captivated her most due to its versatility—allowing for a wide spectrum of shades, textures, and fluid movements. The process of working with watercolor has always felt therapeutic to her, and the organic nature of the medium perfectly aligns with her vision of capturing natural beauty.
Meghana has spent over 30 years honing her skills, developing distinctive techniques while exploring new approaches. What started as a hobby, encouraged by her family and friends, has grown into a full-fledged artistic career. Her work is characterized by a harmonious blend of bold and subtle colors, with a signature love for incorporating shades of green into every piece. The pandemic sparked a deeper sense of community service, leading her to conceptualize and chair both online and in-person art shows featuring artists of all ages. Meghana served as President of the Pleasanton Art League in 2022 and 2023, using her platform to foster community engagement through art. She is currently the creator and organizer of Flora in Focus, a flower-themed art show that celebrates the beauty of nature.
Meghana is the founder of DaintlyMade, a company that lovingly represents her artistic vision through a collection of her unique creations. In addition to her watercolor art, Meghana has a passion for crafting. In 2024 and 2025, she received over 35 awards at the Alameda County Fair’s fine art, crafts and gardening competitions, including the Sweepstakes Award in the Hand Crafts category. She won the Giclee King’s Award of Distinction in Watercolors (2024) and Award of Merit (2025) at the California State Fair in Sacramento. She regularly participates in both art and craft shows, as well as fine art competitions throughout the Bay Area. Her work has been juried and exhibited at venues such as the Harrington Gallery at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton, Bankhead Theater in Livermore, Lindsay Dirkx Brown Gallery in San Ramon, Blackhawk Plaza, Village Art Theatre and Gallery in Danville, the California Watercolor Association’s National and International Shows, City Halls, and other esteemed locations, and online. Meghana has received numerous awards and accolades at both national and international levels.
In addition to her artistic practice, Meghana is passionate about teaching and sharing her love of watercolor. She regularly conducts art demonstrations and watercolor lessons, inspiring others to explore their creative potential.
