A resident of Livermore, California, Meghana Mitragotri is an award-winning Watercolor Artist that draws inspiration from quaint countryside landscapes, flowers, and birds. Her style is often realistic, and sometimes impressionistic.

Meghana was born in a family of scientists and grew up in Kalpakkam, a township in southern India. Growing up in a diverse community elevated her creative interests in art, languages, classical music, and dance. While in grade school, she took art classes and was introduced to  media  like  colored  pencils,  pastels, watercolors, acrylic, and oils.

However, watercolors became Meghana’s choice of medium because of the sheer versatility of water resulting in an array of shades, movement, textures, and hues, that bring to life her idea of natural beauty and a level of serenity in a painting. The process is therapeutic, and the result organic!

Meghana started to develop her own techniques over a period and continues to learn various tricks and techniques. She loves using a variety of bold and subtle colors alike and must have a shade of green in ALL her pieces. She closely follows the work of renowned artists whose art style and compositions have inspired her.

Painting has always been Meghana’s favorite hobby for over 30 years. She has been encouraged by family and close friends to take this hobby a notch up, and this has made her a full-time artist allowing her to become a member of organizations including the Pleasanton Art League (PAL), Livermore Art Association (LAA), Dublin Arts Collective (DAC) and California Watercolor Association (CWA). The pandemic has given her opportunities to work on several interesting projects to bring communities together. She has also conceptualized and been the Show Chair for multiple online and in-person art shows, including the floral themed “Flora in Focus.”

Meghana is also a crafter. Her company is titled “DaintlyMade”. She is actively involved with participating in numerous Art & Craft shows and Fine Art events & competitions throughout the Bay Area year-round. Her artwork has been exhibited at venues including Museum on Main, Harrington Gallery of Firehouse Arts Center, Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, and juried shows at Lindsay Dirkx Brown Gallery and City Hall in San Ramon, Bankhead Theater, Bothwell Arts Center and City Hall in Livermore, Blackhawk Plaza in Danville, Delicato winery in Manteca, other fine art shows in Dublin, Tracy, Fremont, Hayward and more. She has also been accepted into CWA’s National Show. She has received numerous awards and accolades at national and international levels. Meghana enjoys teaching watercolor lessons and performing art demonstrations.
