Creation and exploration — that’s what painting has meant to me for over 30 years.

While growing up in the Pacific Northwest I wasn’t much of an artist. But when I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area I was so enthralled by the light and sounds filling the area that I just had to paint!

Exploration and the continual development of my artistic skills are driving forces for me. I thrive on working just beyond my comfort level so that I struggle and grow as a learning artist.

Because of these motivations, in the past 30 years, I have learned that I cannot possibly tie myself down to working in just one manner of painting. In my explorations, I have tried oils, acrylics, watercolor, and drawing in pencil and charcoal. Along the way I have found that I love painting still-life, landscapes and seascapes, and abstracts.

I paint in 3 different styles:

  • In the realistic manner of Loren Speck and Abbey Ryan;

  • I have my own Fauvist interpretation of Andre Derain and Henri Matisse;

  • And, in Monet’s manner of Impressionistic broken colors.

If you are interested in what I am saying here, contact me. Look me up, and let’s sit down and talk about some art.

Happy painting!
