Jessica de Jesus

Art was always encouraged from a young age – I went to an arts high school and entered UCLA as a Fine Art major (but left with a BA in Art History). Painting and printmaking would make brief appearances in my adult life but just as a side thing and not with any kind of regularity. However, once Covid-19 came to disrupt all our lives, that all changed. Since then, art has become part of my daily practice (almost).

I find great enjoy and expression delving into the loose qualities of watercolor and other water-based media. I am moved by nature and how it can provoke both breathtaking beauty and raw fear at the same time, due to weather or, more often, my own mind. My art is inspired by my favorite places for escape and adventure and the places I hope to see one day.

I am based in Walnut Creek, CA with my family where we get to access the golden hills of Mt. Diablo at a moment's notice or our beloved Sierra Nevada with a little more planning.
