Started in 1957, the Livermore Art Association is the oldest art association in the Tri-Valley, supporting visual artists through education, display opportunities and social events.
LAA's premier shows are several decades old, well established and attended. A variety of work by many local artists is displayed and shown. The premier shows include:
- The Spring Art Show - The largest indoor art show sponsored by a local art association, displaying the works of up and coming artists all the way up to the professional artist.
- The Art in the Vineyard Show - The oldest local show located in a vineyard setting features the work of local artists and artisans and is hosted at the lovely Wente Vineyards Estate Winery.
- Art Under the Oaks - This hot summer show displays the works of local artists and artisans under the cool summer shade of oak trees at Alden Lane Nursery.
The LAA also helps support the LAA Gallery, the oldest, and at the moment, only visual arts gallery in Livermore.
The LAA has a close relationship with its sister art organization, The Pleasanton Art League, sharing a common monthly newsletter, the Portfolio and holding joint monthly meetings, which include demonstrations by established art professionals.
